InterGlobal
began in
1998 as a
joint
venture
between two
reputable
insurance
providers:
Inter Group
and the Mike
Henry Group.
Inter Group,
formed in
1992, is a
UK-based
insurance
solutions
company,
which was
owned by The
Churchill
Group (then
a Credit
Suisse
Company) and
then was
subsequently
acquired by
the Royal
Bank of
Scotland
Group in
2003.
The Mike
Henry Group
was formed
in 1981.
This New
Zealand
based group
is one of
the largest
travel
insurance
product and
service
providers in
that region
and has
established
business
interests
internationally
in the UK,
Australia,
the Far
East, South
East Asia
and Canada.
Early in
2003 and
prior to the
RBS takeover
of Inter
Group,
InterGlobal
(UK) merged
with Global
HealthCare
Limited to
create a
single
worldwide
brand.
Global
Healthcare
was an
already well
established
arm of the
Mike Henry
Group and
long-term
partner of
InterGlobal
specialising
in the areas
of travel
and
healthcare-related
insurance
products.
Operating
out of
Auckland,
New Zealand
and through
offices in
Japan and
Thailand,
Global
HealthCare
Limited had
become
recognized
as a major
player in
the
international
private
medical
insurance
markets of
Australasia,
South East
Asia and the
Far East.
Joining two
brands
InterGlobal
(UK)'s
experience
across
Europe,
Africa and
the Middle
East united
with Global
HealthCare's
success in
the core
pan-pacific
markets made
an excellent
combination
of resources
and a strong
platform for
future
growth. The
existence of
common
products and
values all
added to the
exciting
synergy this
merger
provided and
made
InterGlobal
a truly
international
medical
insurance
provider.
As a result
of this
merger and
the
ownership
changes with
our UK based
co-founder,
various
discussions
took place
to assess
the
strategic
fit of
InterGlobal
within the
restructured
RBS
Insurance
division and
the
long-term
future of
the company.
It was
decided that
the best
possible
move for
InterGlobal
would be to
separate
completely
from Inter
Group and
RBS with
senior
directors
from
InterGlobal
and the Mike
Henry Group
buying out
the
remaining
shareholdings.
Independence
In July 2004
the final
separation
was complete
with
InterGlobal
UK now fully
owned by its
senior
directors
and those of
Mike Henry.
Moving
forward
In March
2007,
InterGlobal
became an
insurance
company.
The move
from agency
to insurer
was part of
a $60.7m
investment
by Alchemy
Partners,
the private
equity firm,
and
InterGlobal
management.
It involved
the
acquisition
of
InterGlobal
from its
previous
managers.
InterGlobal
Insurance
Company Ltd
will provide
the
financial
security and
underwriting
for our
products and
is fully FSA
regulated,
with an A.M.
Best rating

2007
We are now
